What: Satyanarayan Puja/katha is the most widely performed puja in India. Its the first first mentioned ritual in the Skanda Purana. Satya means “The Truth” and Narayana means the “All Mighty”. Satyanarayan puja is done in reverence to Lord Satyanarayan – a form of Lord Mahavishnu. In this form, the lord is considered to become the embodiment of truth.
The Lord Vishnu’s first and foremost devotee is “Narad” who chants only one name – Narayan. From that time the Lord is called as Narayan
When: It can be performed on any day for ant reason but its believed that performing this puja on the day of Purnima (Full Moon) brings fortune to the Home. Its also ideal to performer this puja during Ekadasi ( 11 day after the full moon or new moon), Kartika purnima, Vaisakha Purnima, Sankranti etc.
