Overview
Durga Saptashati Path for families in Madannapet
Durga Saptashati, also called the Devi Mahatmya or Chandi Path, is a holy text of 700 verses (sapta-shati) in 13 chapters, forming part of the Markandeya Purana. It narrates the Goddess's victories over Madhu-Kaitabha, Mahishasura and Shumbha-Nishumbha, and is one of the most revered texts of Shakta worship.
Madannapet lies south of Malakpet, between Saidabad, Santosh Nagar and Kurmaguda. Its vegetable market serves a large part of the old city, and the lanes around it are lined with houses, small shops and workshops.
