What is Shiv Puja?
Shiv Puja is the traditional worship of Lord Shiva in a simpler, accessible form. It usually includes Ganesh puja, jal or milk abhishek of the Shivling, offering of bel patra, dhatura and white flowers, chanting of Om Namah Shivaya and Shiva stotras, and aarti. It can be performed with or without Mata Parvati and the Shiva parivar.
It is well suited to regular devotion, a Somvar vrat, the Mondays of Sawan, or Pradosh evenings. Many families also choose Shiv Puja for a household occasion when a full Rudrabhishek is not planned. Stotras such as the Shiva Panchakshara Stotram, Lingashtakam or Shiv Chalisa are often included.
Rituals vary by region, some traditions include a Shiv Katha or Solah Somvar vrat katha. The Pandit adapts the puja to your family's customs and can include Parvati worship for couples.

Can a Pandit do Sawan Somvar Shiv Puja at home?
Yes. Many families book a Pandit for each Monday of Sawan, or for the first and last Monday, with jal or milk abhishek, bel patra, Shiv Chalisa and aarti. Book early, as Sawan Mondays are among the busiest days of the year for Pandits.
Do you arrange the Solah Somvar vrat udyapan?
Yes. After the sixteen Mondays, the udyapan is done with Shiv Parvati puja, the vrat katha, havan and daan as your family's custom requires. The Pandit will guide you on the samagri and the day.
How long does a Shiv Puja take?
A simple Shiv Puja with abhishek, bel patra, stotras and aarti usually takes about an hour to an hour and a half. With a Shiv Katha, Parvati puja or a small havan added, allow two hours or more.
Can you arrange a North Indian Pandit for Shiv Puja in Delhi NCR, Hyderabad or Pune?
