    Overview

What is Kaal Sarp Dosh Puja?

Kaal Sarp Yog is a term used when all seven classical grahas fall on one side of the Rahu Ketu axis in a birth chart. It is described in several forms, such as Anant, Kulik, Vasuki and Shankhpal, depending on where Rahu and Ketu are placed.

Astrological views on Kaal Sarp differ. It is not described in some classical texts, and many astrologers consider it only in combination with other factors, or feel its influence depends greatly on the rest of the chart. Others give it considerable importance. We encourage you to discuss your own chart with a qualified astrologer or Pandit rather than relying on generic online readings, and to approach the puja as an act of devotion, not fear.

The shanti vidhi usually includes Ganesh puja, sankalp, Navagraha and Rahu Ketu worship, puja of a silver Naga Nagin pair, Rahu Ketu mantra jaap and Rudrabhishek or Mahamrityunjaya prayers to Lord Shiva. In Varanasi, the city of Shiva, many families find it meaningful to perform this puja on the ghats or at home with a local Pandit, following their own family tradition.

Brahmā murāris tripurāntakārī bhānuḥ śaśī bhūmisuto budhaś ca, guruś ca śukraḥ śani rāhu ketavaḥ sarve grahāḥ śāntikarā bhavantu.
