Overview
Durga Saptashati Path for families in Vijayanagar Colony
Durga Saptashati, also called the Devi Mahatmya or Chandi Path, is a holy text of 700 verses (sapta-shati) in 13 chapters, forming part of the Markandeya Purana. It narrates the Goddess's victories over Madhu-Kaitabha, Mahishasura and Shumbha-Nishumbha, and is one of the most revered texts of Shakta worship.
Vijayanagar Colony was laid out as a planned residential colony next to Mehdipatnam, Masab Tank and Humayun Nagar. Its grid of lanes is lined with independent houses, many now rebuilt as small apartment buildings, and a few colony temples and parks.
