Overview
Udak Shanti for families in TC Palya
Udak Shanti takes its name from udak, the Sanskrit word for water. Pandits chant a long sequence of Vedic shanti mantras over a kalash filled with water, so that the water itself carries the prayers. The water is then sprinkled over the family and through every room of the home.
TC Palya, short for Thambuchetty Palya, lies in east Bangalore between Ramamurthy Nagar and KR Puram, with TC Palya Main Road running through it towards Old Madras Road. Layouts of independent houses, new apartments and small shops have filled in what was open land not long ago.
