Overview
Durga Saptashati Path for families in Bhelupur
Durga Saptashati, also called the Devi Mahatmya or Chandi Path, is a holy text of 700 verses (sapta-shati) in 13 chapters, forming part of the Markandeya Purana. It narrates the Goddess's victories over Madhu-Kaitabha, Mahishasura and Shumbha-Nishumbha, and is one of the most revered texts of Shakta worship.
Bhelupur is a busy, lived-in part of south-central Varanasi, sitting between the old city and the Durgakund and Lanka side of town. Its roads are lined with shops, coaching centres, clinics and family homes, and it is well connected to both the ghats and the newer parts of the city.
