- 1Planning and sankalp. The format, number of Pandits and days are fixed in advance. On the first day, the sankalp is taken for the entire anushthan in the host's name and gotra.
- 2Opening pujas. Ganesh puja, Kalash sthapana, Punyahavachan, Navagraha and Shodash Matrika puja are performed, and Pandits are formally invited (varan).
