Seemantham, known in the North as Godh Bharai and in Tamil homes as Valaikappu, is the ceremony held during pregnancy to bless the expectant mother and her baby. Its Vedic name is Simantonnayana Sanskar, one of the sixteen sanskars.
Rathyatra is one of the best-known crossings in central Varanasi, linking Sigra, Mahmoorganj and the roads towards the south of the city. Its name comes from the traditional Rath Yatra fair of Lord Jagannath held in the area each year.
