Dashashwamedh Ghat is one of the best-known ghats in Varanasi and is widely associated with the grand evening Ganga Aarti. Its name is traditionally linked to a legend of Lord Brahma performing the Dashashwamedh yagna here.
The ghat lies close to Godowlia and the old city, and the nearby lanes lead to many of Kashi's temples and markets. It is busy from early morning until late at night, which gives it an energy many visitors remember.
