Overview
Upanayana (Janeu) Sanskar for families in Ittamadu
Upanayana, widely known as Janeu Sanskar, is the ceremony in which a child receives the holy thread (yagnopavit) and is initiated into the Gayatri Mantra. Traditionally it marked the beginning of formal Vedic study under a guru, and it remains an important sanskar in many Hindu families.
Ittamadu is a residential part of Banashankari 3rd Stage, lying between Hosakerehalli, Kathriguppe and the Outer Ring Road. Its streets are lined with independent houses, many rebuilt as family homes with rented floors.
