Overview
Durga Saptashati Path for families in Old Alwal
Durga Saptashati, also called the Devi Mahatmya or Chandi Path, is a holy text of 700 verses (sapta-shati) in 13 chapters, forming part of the Markandeya Purana. It narrates the Goddess's victories over Madhu-Kaitabha, Mahishasura and Shumbha-Nishumbha, and is one of the most revered texts of Shakta worship.
Old Alwal is the original village core of Alwal, north of Secunderabad between Bolarum, Lothkunta and Macha Bolarum. The old Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple here is one of the oldest temples on the Secunderabad side and gives the area a strong devotional character.
