What is Tarpan?
The simple, holy offering of water with sesame and kusha to the ancestors, traditionally performed in the Ganga at Kashi during Pitru Paksha and on Amavasya.
It can be performed on its own or as part of Pind Daan and Shraddha, and a Pandit guides the mantras and the names to be remembered.
