Overview
Durga Saptashati Path for families in Gunjur
Durga Saptashati, also called the Devi Mahatmya or Chandi Path, is a holy text of 700 verses (sapta-shati) in 13 chapters, forming part of the Markandeya Purana. It narrates the Goddess's victories over Madhu-Kaitabha, Mahishasura and Shumbha-Nishumbha, and is one of the most revered texts of Shakta worship.
Gunjur is an old village just south of Varthur, on the roads that lead towards Sarjapur and Dommasandra. Around the village core, open land has been turned into villa communities, plotted layouts and a few large apartment projects over the last decade.
