Tripindi Shraddha vidhi, step by step

1. 1Consultation. The Pandit understands the family’s situation and tradition, and explains whether and how Tripindi Shraddha is usually performed.
2. 2Purification and Sankalp. The performer purifies and takes a sankalp with the family’s names and gotra.
3. 3Ganesh and Vishnu Puja. Prayers are offered to Lord Ganesha and Lord Vishnu at the start of the rite.
4. 4Invocation of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. The deities associated with the three pindas are invoked with mantras.
5. 5Offering the Three Pindas. Three pindas, prepared from different grains as per the vidhi, are offered with sesame, water and flowers.
6. 6Tarpan and Havan. Tarpan is offered to the ancestors, and a havan is performed where part of the tradition.
7. 7Daan and Concluding Prayers. Daan is offered as per custom, and the rite concludes with prayers for the ancestors’ peace.
