Katyayani Puja in Varanasi
Katyayani Puja is offered to Maa Katyayani, the sixth form of Durga, and many families in Kashi perform it when they are praying for a good marriage for a daughter or son. A Pandit leads the sankalp, Devi path and offerings in the traditional North Indian vidhi.

Yes. It is most often performed for daughters, but many families perform it for a son too. The Pandit adjusts the sankalp to the person and the intention.
