- 1Sankalp and Pandit varan. The host takes the sankalp with name, gotra and intention, and the 11 Pandits are formally invited to the anushthan.
- 2Opening pujas. Ganesh Gauri puja, Kalash sthapana, Punyahavachan and Navagraha puja are performed.
- 3Shivling invocation. The Shivling is established and Lord Shiva is invoked with Vedic mantras.
- 4121 Rudram recitations with abhishek. The Pandits recite the Rudram in the agreed structure while Gangajal, milk, panchamrit and other offerings are poured over the Shivling.
