Overview
What is Asthi Visarjan Assistance?
Asthi Visarjan is the immersion of a loved one’s ashes (asthi) in a holy river. Many Hindu families bring the ashes to Varanasi to be immersed in the Ganga, as Kashi and the Ganga are traditionally regarded as especially holy for this final act of care.
We know this is often a difficult and emotional time, sometimes with family members travelling from far away. Our assistance is designed to make the day simple and calm: a Pandit to conduct the prayers, clear guidance on where to go and what to bring, and help arranging a boat if the family wishes to immerse the ashes from the river.
The immersion is performed with the family present, or by an authorised family representative. Many families choose to combine it with Pind Daan or Tarpan the same day, and the Pandit can guide you on this according to your tradition.

Significance
In Hindu tradition, the Ganga is revered as a purifying, life-giving river, and immersing the ashes in her waters is traditionally believed to support the peaceful onward journey of the departed. Kashi, associated with Lord Shiva, holds a special place in these beliefs.
For families, Asthi Visarjan is also a moment of farewell. Offering prayers together by the river, remembering the loved one by name, can bring a sense of peace and completion.

The rite closes with prayers for peace, and the family may offer Tarpan or daan as per custom.
