Overview
What is Pradosh Vrat Puja?
Pradosh Vrat is observed twice a month on Trayodashi, and the puja is performed in pradosh kaal, the period around sunset. Devotees fast during the day and worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati in the evening.
The puja typically includes abhishek of the Shivling with water, milk, curd, honey and ghee, offerings of bilva leaves and flowers, recitation of Shiva mantras and the Pradosh Vrat Katha, followed by aarti. In South India, Pradosham is also closely linked with the worship of Nandi.
When Pradosh falls on a Monday it is called Som Pradosh, and on a Saturday it is called Shani Pradosh. The Pandit can help you plan the vrat and the timing of the evening puja.

Significance
Tradition holds that Lord Shiva is especially pleased during the twilight of Trayodashi. Pradosh is regarded as one of the most important regular observances for Shiva devotees.
Many devotees keep the vrat as a monthly discipline for a set period, and conclude it with an udyapan ceremony. The observance is seen as a way to bring steadiness, devotion and family harmony.

Lord Ganesha is worshipped first, followed by Nandi, as is customary in many traditions.

Abhishek with water, milk, curd, honey, ghee and Gangajal while Shiva mantras are chanted.

Bilva leaves, flowers and akshat are offered with the names of Lord Shiva.

The katha is recited and the puja concludes with aarti and prasad.
