Why Families Choose Delhi for Vivah Sanskar (Hindu Wedding Ceremony)

Delhi is one of the busiest wedding cities in India. Farmhouses in Chhattarpur and on the Mehrauli Gurgaon road, banquet halls along GT Karnal Road and in Kirti Nagar, and community halls across the city are booked for months in the wedding season. Interregional weddings are common, and families often want a Pandit who can respectfully include customs from both sides.

Punjabi weddings may keep the pheras short and lively, while Purvanchal families may want the full vidhi with Sindoor Daan and other rites, and some Delhi weddings start late at night to match the lagna. The Pandit should know your plan from the first call.

  • Many venues have rules on open fire and the size of the havan kund in the mandap.
  • Late night pheras are common; plan the Pandit's transport back.
  • Baraat processions can cause traffic delays, so build slack into the muhurat.
  • Night time sound limits apply in many areas; plan the timing of music around the pheras.
