Overview
Kumbh Vivah is a traditional remedy performed before a wedding when a person’s horoscope shows Mangal Dosha or a similar concern that the family wishes to address. The person is symbolically married to a kumbh, an earthen pot representing Lord Vishnu, or in some traditions to a peepal or banana tree. The related ritual for men, using the arka plant, is known as Arka Vivah.
The ceremony follows the pattern of a small wedding, with Ganesh Puja, Vishnu Puja, sankalp and the symbolic marriage, after which the kumbh is immersed or the ritual is concluded as per custom. It is performed discreetly, usually with only close family present.

In Jyotish tradition, Kumbh Vivah is believed to address the effects associated with Mangal Dosha in marriage, so that the person can enter married life with peace of mind.
