Gandipet lies on the western edge of the city beside Osman Sagar, with the lake road, rocky outcrops and long stretches of green giving it a very different feel from the built-up neighbourhoods closer in. Land here is held in large parcels, and much of it is still open.
Farmhouses, private villas and weekend homes make up most of the housing, along with a few newer gated villa communities towards Khanapur and the Financial District side. Families often come out here for a quiet day, and several hold their family functions at their own property.
