What is Vishnu Puja?
Vishnu Puja is the worship of Lord Vishnu, who in Hindu tradition preserves and sustains the universe and descends as avatars such as Rama and Krishna. He is worshipped as Narayana, often together with Goddess Lakshmi, and is the focus of Vaishnava devotion across India.
The puja usually includes invocation of Vishnu with the Purusha Suktam, shodashopachara offerings with tulsi leaves and yellow flowers, and recitation of the Vishnu Sahasranama, the thousand names of Vishnu found in the Anushasana Parva of the Mahabharata. Many families also include the Om Namo Narayanaya mantra and a Vishnu aarti.
It is especially observed on Ekadashi, on Thursdays, during the holy month of Kartik and on days such as Devuthani Ekadashi. Practices vary by sampradaya and region, and the Pandit will follow your family's tradition.
Significance
Vishnu is described in the Puranas as resting on Shesha in the cosmic ocean, holding the conch, discus, mace and lotus. Each symbol is traditionally interpreted: the conch for the primordial sound, the chakra for the mind, the mace for strength and the lotus for purity.
Tulsi holds a special place in his worship, and no offering to Vishnu is considered complete without a tulsi leaf. Devotees associate Vishnu Puja with steadiness, dharma in daily life and a sense of being protected and cared for.

Vishnu Puja FAQs
If yours is not here, ask it. A real person answers every message on WhatsApp.
How much does Vishnu Puja cost?
It depends on the vidhi, whether Sahasranama path or additional japa is included, the number of Pandits, samagri and location. Share details on WhatsApp for a quote.
Is Vishnu Puja the same as Satyanarayan Puja?
Satyanarayan Puja is a specific form of Vishnu worship with the Satyanarayan Katha. A general Vishnu Puja focuses on shodashopachara offerings and Sahasranama path without the katha.
Why is tulsi important in Vishnu Puja?
Tulsi is traditionally considered very dear to Vishnu, and offerings to him are made with tulsi leaves. Note that tulsi is usually not offered to Ganesha.
Can I do Vishnu Puja on Ekadashi online?
Yes. The Pandit performs the sankalp and path in your name while you join by video call from home.
How long does the Vishnu Sahasranama path take?
A single recitation typically takes about 25 to 40 minutes. With the full puja and aarti, plan for around 1.5 to 2.5 hours.
