• Clay Ganpati murti (eco friendly preferred)
• Chowki with red or yellow cloth
• Kalash, mango leaves and coconut
• Durva grass (21 blades or bunches)
• Red flowers, hibiscus and marigold garlands
• Modak or besan laddoo for naivedya

Ganesh Chaturthi Sthapana (Ganpati Sthapana) vidhi, step by step

1. 1Preparing the mandap. A clean chowki is set up with a red or yellow cloth, a kalash with mango leaves and coconut, and decorations of flowers and lights where the murti will be placed.
2. 2Sankalp and Ganesh avahan. The Pandit takes the sankalp with the family's names and gotra and invites Lord Ganesha with mantras to be present in the murti.
3. 3Pran pratishtha. With Vedic mantras, the Pandit performs pran pratishtha, invoking the presence of the deity into the clay murti. Many families cover the murti's eyes until this step.
4. 4Shodashopachar puja. Sixteen offerings are made, including water, panchamrit, clothes, janeu, sandalwood, red flowers, durva grass, incense, diya and naivedya of modak.
5. 5Aarti and prasad. The family sings Ganpati aarti such as Sukhkarta Dukhharta or Jai Ganesh Deva, and modak or laddoo prasad is shared.
6. 6Uttar puja before visarjan. On the last day the Pandit performs the uttar puja, thanking Bappa and requesting him to return next year, before the murti is taken for visarjan.
