What is Rudra Homam?
Rudra Homam centres on the Sri Rudram from the Krishna Yajurveda, one of the most revered Vedic hymns to Lord Shiva. The Pandits chant the Namakam and Chamakam while offerings of ghee, samidha and other samagri are made into the fire.
Where Rudrabhishek focuses on bathing the Shivling while the Rudram is chanted, Rudra Homam offers the same hymn through agni. Some families perform both together on the same day.
The homam is popular in South Indian households and is commonly arranged at home, in a temple or with an online sankalp.
