What is Saraswati Homam?
Saraswati Homam is a Vedic fire offering to Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, speech, music and the arts. Offerings are made into the fire with Saraswati mantras and stotras.
Students often sit for the homam before board exams, entrance tests or the start of a new course, and families perform it on Vasant Panchami or Saraswati puja days during Navratri. It is sometimes combined with Hayagriva or Ganapati homam.
The homam can be done at home, in a temple or with an online sankalp, and the Pandit keeps it simple enough for children to take part.
