What is Ayushya Homam?
A Vedic fire ritual invoking Ayur Devata, traditionally performed on a birthday or janma nakshatra to pray for a long and healthy life.
The Pandit begins with Ganapathi pooje, punyahavachana and kalasha sthapana, and then offers into the fire with Ayushya Suktam and related mantras. Depending on custom, Navagraha or Mrityunjaya prayers may be added.
